Hello world!

And welcome to the Social Computing Group at the MIT Media Lab.

In our group, we explore how software shapes cities. Or, to be more specific, we explore how software enables social processes that in turn shape cities.

Please feel free to take a look at our manifesto or our areas to get a sense of how we do this. Right now, we tend to focus on learning, transportation, and agriculture, but the process that we use can be applied to many different things in cities, from public space to energy. We will get around to these at some point as well.

We plan to use this space to put out new ideas as we are coming up with them, and to engage in a conversation about what we do and why we do it. We hope that it might help to inform whatever you are working on, and we hope that it might help improve our own ideas.

Thanks for visiting and we hope you stick around!
